MATNET kick-off event – 2 November 2007
On 2 November 2007, the kick-off event for the project "Modern Airport" was held in the main hall of the conference centre at Schoenefeld Airport. 150 participants, including many representatives of companies and research institutes from Berlin and Brandenburg, visited the event. The first part of the event focused on airport development in the capital region, which led to the construction of the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport BBI and the associated economic and technological expectations. The second part took a closer look at the potential of near field communication technologies for airport processes: baggage and airport logistics, localisation, passenger services and border crossing processes, i.e. access control.
